Based on your assumptions, Cashflow Plan Home projects cash in- and outflows for a year ahead on a monthly basis and generates a series of reports. In doing so, it handles movements in current/checking, savings and credit card accounts; automatically calculates interest; and projects monthly balances for these accounts. Advisory messages are given when credit and other limits are exceeded. A built-in 'what-if' facility can be used to quickly explore alternative scenarios and outcomes. Cashflow Plan also includes a tool for generating 'high-level' projections for 5 years ahead and, optionally, it also handles monthly projections for a home business.

Cashflow Plan Home is preformatted to accommodate about 170 income and expenditure variables for a household, individual and home business and uses over 3,000 formulae. It contains eight charts which graph dozens of variables and nine comprehensive reports which can be printed on paper or as PDFs (if supported by the spreadsheet being used). These cover monthly and full-year assumptions, projections, analyses, summaries and charts.

Two versions of Cashflow Plan Home are available - Free and Premium. Their system requirements are as follows:

  Free
version

Any recent desktop or cloud-based release of Excel. Should also work reasonably satisfactorily with many other spreadsheet types that can load Excel's XLS files - experiment!! Your feedback appreciated.
Use on smartphones isn't practical on account of their very small displays. See FAQs below,

Premium version Requires a recent release of Excel running on a desktop, laptop or tablet and using Windows or MacOS. Includes releases of Excel incorporated in desk-based versions of Office and Office 365.

Notes:

  1. Exclusively cloud-based versions of Excel (OneDrive etc.) will open the Premium version but will not execute its VBA macros as these require a desktop version of Excel - get Free version instead.
  2. Premium version cannot be used with Excel versions running on Android or iOS devices due to their inability to run macros - get Free version.

2. Two Versions - Download/Purchase

  • Free version for Microsoft Excel and many other spreadsheet types which can handle Excel's XLS file type - see FAQs below for more details. This version can be freely distributed provided our license conditions are adhered to (see Guide within XLS file for details).

Download Free version of Cashflow Plan Home as an XLS file (710 kb) or ZIP file (250 kb).

  • Premium version costs US$12 (approximately €11 euro or £9 sterling) plus any sales or value-added taxes.
Note that it requires a desktop version of Microsoft Excel (any release after year 2000) running on a Windows PC or Apple Mac.

Purchase/download Premium version of Cashflow Plan Home via Avangate, our e-commerce service supplier.

Click to display full sizeThe key difference between the two versions is that Premium needs Excel and uses VBA-based macros to provide extensive menus which facilitate the speedy entry of assumptions, printing of reports and charts and many other tasks and activities. It also includes a facility to 'roll forward' assumptions and projections on a monthly basis without having to completely re-enter assumptions (illustrated opposite).

3. Support & FAQs

Cashflow Plan Home incorporates a comprehensive 9-page user guide, Here is a standalone PDF copy.

If using the Premium version, you must enable macros when requested during loading so that its menus and tools can operate. If unfamiliar with this task, refer to this PDF diagram (also incorporated within Cashflow Plan Home).

As the Free version of Cashflow Plan Home is supplied 'as is' and without charge, PlanWare is not obliged to support users. However, a periodically updated list of FAQs about loading and using is maintained below to assist new and existing users.

3.1. FAQs - Loading Cashflow Plan Home
We welcome user feedback on using Cashflow Plan Home
on different devices, operating systems and spreadsheet types.

Q. How do I enable macros when loading the Premium version?
This PDF diagram explains how to enable macros for multiple releases of Excel. This task is essential for the Premium version.

Q. Which spreadsheets (other than Excel) can be used by the Free version?
Details to follow shortly.

Q. Can I change the Excel file type from the supplied XLS to XLSX or XLSM?
For the Free version, change the file type to XLSX by selecting this file type when saving.

For the Premium version, you can change the file type to XLSM by following these instructions: Load a copy of the XLS file, select File, Info, Convert Compatibility Mode and then select the following prompts: OK, Yes, OK, Enable Content. Note that the following minor menu options will no longer work: *Help About Cashflow Plan, *Tools/Setup Enter Plan Title in Footers .... and *Tools/Setup Set View for all Reports.

Q. Can I transfer the Cashflow Plan XLS file to OneDrive for use with Excel on the cloud?
Yes, simply save a copy of the supplied XLS file for the Free version onto your OneDrive and access it from a desktop copy of Excel.

If you wish to save a copy of the Premium version as an EXLSM file onto OneDrive, you must convert it from XLS to XLSM before saving it to OneDrive - see previous question for instructions.

3.2. FAQs - Using Cashflow Plan Home
We invite users to contribute feedback and suggestions
to extend these FAQs.

Q. Can I change printer orientation from portrait to landscape?
Yes. This will increase the size of text in reports but spread reports over more pages. If using Excel 2010 or higher, you may need to change Print Settings for scaling to Fit All Columns on One Page.

Q. Can I print reports as PDFs?
Yes. Just change the Printer type to PDF. If using the Premium version, the print menus will automatically use this type once set.

Q. When should I use 000 (thousands) as the currency denomination?
If using US$, Stg or euro, it is very unlikely that you'll need to use 000 unless you are very rich or have massive borrowings. If using Yen or other low denomination currency units, you might need to use 000. The best approach is to enter a typical large value e.g. monthly salary or highest expected debt and see if the ###### appear in reports. If they do appear, set the denomination to 000 and enter all assumption values as thousands e.g. enter 1,520 as 1.520 (note the decimal point instead of comma). Note also that Cashflow Plan will display this value as 2 in reports and on screen even though it will use 1.52 in calculations.

Q. Cashflow Plan Home's business cashflow planner is too basic, what should I do?
Consider acquiring one of the 12-month business cashflow planners within Cashflow Plan's business range - details at Cashflow Plan Details . If you need multi-year proforma projections, look into the Exl-Plan range at Exl-Plan Details. Both ranges generate fully-integrated monthly/annual income statement, cashflows, balance sheets, ratio analyses along with charts, what-if tools and other faculties.

Q. Can I delete unused rows?
No, but you can use your spreadsheet to hide them. If using a Premium copy you can instruct it (via *Tools/Setup, Print No Empty Rows) to automatically hide all unused rows in assumption and output reports during printing.

Q. Can I add extra assumption rows?
See Changing Cashflow Plan in the guide.
